Helping Hand International’s global Initiative of “Selfie With The Plant” in Ten Countries across the globe has been a strong message to combat deforestation and climate change.
Helping Hand International is an organization established and working from Gujarat in India. Our organization was established in the year of 2016 under the leadership of Dhruv Panchal. The vision of the organization is “All the People have access to and benefit of all-round prosperity and social justice". The organization truly believe that we must reach the Seventeen Sustainable Development Goals set by the United Nations by 2030 through global collaboration and exchange of ideas. We primarily work on “UN SDG17, Spreading Peace, Social activism in youth around the world". The HHI has its presence in twenty different nations across the globe.
Nearly 4.8 million trees are being axed every year due to the rapid urbanisation and industrialisation annually. This has impacted the globe by increasing the percentage of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases in the atmosphere - this has become a major issue that has to be combated by the youngsters across the globe.
Sir Warren Buffet once told, “Someone's sitting in the shade today because someone planted a tree a long time ago.” After being inspired by the statement, Dhruv Panchal (the founder of HHI) decided to create an initiative called “Selfie With The Plant” on
11th July, 2020 at 9 AM IST in various parts of the member countries of HHI across the globe to create awareness of the importance of afforestation as a means to combat the effects of climate change. The members of HHI from various parts of the globe like
India, Indonesia, Qatar, Cameroon, Kenya, Sudan, Nigeria, Tanzania, Sri Lanka and Turkey were extremely enthusiastic to display their love and respect for mother nature by planting a sapling and taking a selfie to cherish this memorable event. Despite the lockdown that has been imposed in some of the above-cited countries, the HHI members were extremely proactive and optimistic by planting a sapling at the residential place.
The event has been extremely successful, and really showed the world about the unity and solidarity of the youngsters across the globe for an eco-friendly initiative to combat climate change and environmental degradation. This is our small step to achieving the UN SDG number 13 pertaining to the combating climate change and also implement the UN SDG number 15 pertaining to the preserving and increasing the forest and tree cover in the world.
